When you purchase an eSIM data plan, your eSIM will connect your device to local data networks abroad. Dual SIM technology in compatible iPhone and Android models lets you stay connected with your physical SIM and your eSIM at the same time. You can choose which SIM to use for data connectivity and switch to the other SIM whenever you want. That means can use your eSIM for data access and keep your existing phone number to stay connected with those back home in the UK.

Many newer phone models are now manufactured with an embedded eSIM, but older phone models might not have this technology. Check out our list of eSIM-compatible devices in our Help Centre to find out if yours is one of them. Your device also needs to be carrier-unlocked to work with Revolut's eSIM.

To get a Revolut eSIM, all you have to do is purchase a data plan in-app, then install and activate your eSIM before the first use. After that, you'll be all set to travel to 100+ countries — and you'll be able to purchase new plans anytime, in just a few taps. Here's how to get started with eSIM:

1. Join Revolut

   If you don't already have it, download the Revolut app on an eSIM-compatible iPhone or Android device.

2. Buy your eSIM data plan in-app

   Go to Lifestyle on your home screen, then tap eSIM. Select a global data plan and choose how much data you need.

3. Install your eSIM

   Go to Lifestyle -> eSIM and follow instructions to install your eSIM. The steps may differ depending on your phone manufacturer. You'll only have to set up your eSIM once.

4. Activate your eSIM data plan

   Activate your data plan by selecting your Revolut eSIM for data roaming in your device settings.

5. Go travel!

   Your global eSIM data plan is ready to use. Track your usage in-app, top up whenever you want, purchase different data plans on the go — and most importantly, enjoy your travels.

Once your eSIM is installed and activated, you can easily track your usage and top up your data plan in-app. Here's how:

1. Go to Lifestyle on your home screen, then tap eSIM.
2. Select your global data plan to see how much data you've used.
3. To top up your plan, go back to eSIM, choose a plan with global coverage, and select the amount of data you need. You can also choose a different location if you want to buy a new data plan in a specific country or region.
4. Confirm your order to complete your purchase, and your data plan is ready to use.

eSIM data plans can only be used on the device that you used to buy the plan. If you need another eSIM for a second device, you can buy one directly from the Revolut app on that device.
