Using your UK Revolut account in Australia
If you opened your Revolut account in the UK, you can still use it in Australia. Whether you're on holiday or staying in Australia for a longer period, you can use the Revolut app to send and receive money, and use your Revolut card to spend and withdraw cash.
Your account works the same way abroad as it does at home. You can exchange pounds to Australian dollars in-app before you spend, or let your card auto-convert whenever you make a payment.
Spending with your Revolut card in Australia
You can use your Revolut card to pay for everyday purchases in Australia, from restaurants and shops to online bookings and transport. The Revolut card works in Australia and in 150+ countries worldwide, so you can spend in Australian dollars (AUD) and other local currencies wherever Visa or Mastercard is accepted.
Because your account travels with you, the same app controls that keep you on top of your money at home work just the same in Australia. You can track your spending in real-time, with a notification the moment a payment goes through, so you always know where your money is going — even when you're on the other side of the world.
You can also set monthly spending limits and category budgets to help you stay within your travel budget, freeze or unfreeze your card in an instant if you misplace it, and create disposable virtual cards for safer online purchases. Everything is managed within the app, so you can stay in control of your money, even in Australia.

ATM withdrawals in Australia
While digital payments are becoming the global standard, cash is still often necessary in Australia if you're visiting local markets or rural areas, as well as for tipping.
Every Revolut plan includes a monthly allowance for ATM withdrawals on weekdays without any fees from us:
- Standard: £200 (or up to 5 withdrawals, whichever comes first)
- Plus: £200
- Premium: £400
- Metal: £800
- Ultra: £2,000
Once you go over your plan's limits, we apply a 2% fee or £1 on each withdrawal until your allowance resets the next rolling month.
Third-party providers may charge a fee.
Exchanging currency with Revolut
Before you travel, you can exchange pounds to Australian dollars in the Revolut app whenever you're happy with the rate. This lets you lock in a competitive rate ahead of your trip, and you can spend directly from your AUD balance once you arrive.
Exchange fees, fair usage limits, and weekend fees may apply.
Is Revolut a good choice for visiting Australia?
Revolut is a practical option for people who travel to Australia, whether for a short holiday or a longer stay. You can spend in AUD with the Revolut exchange rate, hold multiple currencies in one account, and manage everything from a single app.
How does Revolut work if I'm living in Australia?
Revolut is also available to legal residents of Australia, so if you're living there you can open an account, choose a plan, and start managing your money through the Revolut app.
