- Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL) formally receives authorisation as a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) provider from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC), underlining its commitment to robust regulatory compliance
- Gibraltar’s early and comprehensive regulatory framework provides a secure baseline for Revolut’s international digital asset services
- Milestone supports Revolut’s broader global crypto strategy, serving worldwide customers
Revolut, the global fintech with more than 80 million retail customers worldwide and over 16 million crypto users, has been granted a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Provider licence by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) for its newly established entity, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL).
The authorisation marks a key step in Revolut’s global crypto expansion strategy. As one of the first jurisdictions to establish a dedicated regulatory framework for DLT, Gibraltar offers a clear and stringent supervisory environment for digital asset innovation.
RGDAL will utilise this licence to support Revolut’s growing international presence and crypto offerings across key expansion markets. Revolut already offers crypto services via Revolut Ltd in the UK and via Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd (RDAEL) across Europe (EEA) under MiCA.
Emil Urmanshin, GM Crypto & New Bets, at Revolut, said: "Securing our DLT authorisation from the GFSC reflects our commitment to operating at the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Gibraltar’s pioneering oversight in the digital asset space makes it an ideal jurisdiction to support our global operational framework as we continue building trusted and secure crypto services for our international customer base."
The Honourable Fabian Picardo KC MP, Chief Minister of Gibraltar, added: “Gibraltar has long led the way in establishing a rigorous regulatory environment for DLT firms, rooted in high standards and robust oversight. We are delighted to welcome global fintech Revolut, via its entity Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited to our financial ecosystem. Its decision to launch further crypto expansion from here is a testament to the strength, reputation, and global appeal of Gibraltar as a trusted hub for digital asset innovation."
Further details regarding target regions and service rollouts supported by RGDAL will be announced in due course.
