Welcome to our interview series, where we shed a spotlight on the Rev-celerator Ambassadors who are shaping the future of finance — while mentoring the next generation of talent.
In this interview, Francisco Sanz Estevez shares his advice for students looking to launch stellar careers and why Revolut is the place to do it — particularly in Spain, where Francisco himself works from.
Tell us about your role at Revolut?
I'm a Senior Data Scientist (DS) and Head of Analytics (HoA) in Content Management. The department I work in oversees all the content that our customers see, such as website text, notifications, emails, in-app messages, and any other type of communication.
As a DS, I develop machine learning models for content creation, content revision, translations, and more. As an HoA, I ensure our data is correctly collated and stored in tables, so that other departments can get the information they need, and I keep track of the dashboards of all teams across the department.

How does the career you wanted to pursue as a grad align with where you are today?
My career path hasn’t been linear, but I’ve been lucky along the way — or perhaps it’s just that I’m not scared of trying new things. That mentality helped me discover what I actually enjoyed doing. As a graduate student, I was a research assistant in Digital Signal Processing, where I realised this field of work wasn’t for me.
My first job out of college was in business consulting, focusing on financial risk management. This is how I came to be on the Data Analytics team. Through that role I discovered my passion for tech and building proof of concepts — ways to demonstrate that an idea, product, or service can be made to work on the real world. I then moved to Seedtag, where I realised that tech companies shaping the future were where I wanted to be. Some years later, I got the chance to join Revolut, where I’ve been for 18 months so far. Each step helped me grow and figure out what I most enjoyed doing.
What do you enjoy most about your work with students, interns, and grads?
What I enjoy most about being an Ambassador for Talent Programmes is getting to connect with students, interns, and grads at an exciting stage in their careers. I value the amount of enthusiasm and drive they have, and the curiosity they bring to the work environment. It’s rewarding to share how Revolut can be a place for them to grow and learn, and to see their perspectives evolve as they face real-world challenges.
For me, it’s more about opening doors and giving them the tools to shape their future careers, which is something I really appreciated when I was building my career.

What do you think makes the Rev-celerator Internship and Graduate Programmes such empowering career launchpads?
The Rev-celerator Internship and Graduate Programmes stand out because they offer second-to-none opportunities for growth. From day 1, interns and grads are trusted with meaningful projects, gaining hands-on experience in a highly innovative environment.
Mentorship from industry leaders provides invaluable guidance and skill development that’s hard to find elsewhere. Being part of a multicultural, innovative company like Revolut exposes them to diverse perspectives and cutting-edge technologies. All this creates a fantastic recipe for a fast-tracked career — something I wish I’d had when I started working.
What's the best thing about working at Revolut in Spain?
I’m Spanish, so I might be a little biased, but with the great weather, amazing people, and fantastic food — what more could you ask for? Jokes aside, working at Revolut in Spain is a great experience, whether you’re based in Madrid, Barcelona, or working remotely from anywhere in the country. Spanish culture is incredibly welcoming to internationals, and in major cities, you’ll likely find a community of people from your home country. This makes Revolut Spain a vibrant mix of nationalities and cultures.
On top of that, Revolut offers competitive compensation — above the market average in Spain — as well as recognising and rewarding strong performance, making it an even more attractive place to work.

Do you have any advice for students and grads who are searching for jobs?
- Rejections are common during job hunting, so don’t let them discourage you. Instead, use feedback productively to identify areas for improvement, so you can align yourself better with job market needs.
- Focus on roles that truly excite you. As a fresh graduate, your eagerness to learn and grow can really set you apart.
- Finally, networking is key. Connect with alumni, old classmates, and attend events. You’ll gain valuable insights and opportunities from those around you.
