Financial basics · 15 July 2025Auxi Roselló
We offer a digital-first way to manage your money — from sending and spending to saving and investing. And now, we're a fully licensed bank, too.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to open an account with Revolut quickly and securely from your phone.
What you’ll need
Opening a Revolut account is fast and straightforward.¹ You just need to meet the following criteria:
- Be 18 or older
- Be a resident of a country where Revolut is available
- Have a valid mobile number and email address
- Have a government-issued ID (passport, driving licence, or residence permit)
¹T&Cs apply.
How it works
You can open your account in just a few steps — all from your phone.
- Download the app: get the Revolut app from the App Store or Google Play, or enter your mobile number to receive a link to the app.
- Verify your mobile number: you’ll receive a 6-digit code by SMS to verify.
- Secure your account: set a secure 4-digit passcode.
- Fill in your details: enter your name, date of birth, address, email, and country of residence. You’ll also set up your @revtag to send and receive payments easily.
- Verify your identity: take a clear photo of your ID (passport or driving licence), then a quick selfie in-app to confirm it’s you.
- Choose your plan: start on Standard (free) or pick from one of our paid plans for added benefits. Switch your plan anytime in-app.
- Add money (optional): you can top up right away by linking a debit card or bank account, or do it later.
Once verified, your account is live and ready to use.
