  • The Revolut Ira Scholarship will award £5,000 to top female students from leading business schools.
  • Launching initially in India, the programme will expand globally, including into new growth markets in an effort to nurture local talent and achieve greater diversity in Revolut’s workforce.

Revolut, the global financial superapp with over 20m customers, has launched the Revolut Ira Scholarship - an initiative aimed at identifying and rewarding female leaders of the future, thereby encouraging diversity and inclusion and celebrating academic excellence. Ira is another name of Goddess Saraswati, the Indian Goddess of wisdom and knowledge, and has inspired the name of the scholarship.

Initially launching in India, the Revolut Ira Scholarship will award £5,000 to one of the best performing female students each at IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, XLRI Jamshedpur and ISB Hyderabad each, which are known to be the top institutes in India.

India is a key growth market for Revolut and the Revolut Ira Scholarship will launch there before expanding into other markets such as Mexico and Brazil. The aim of the scholarship is to ensure that bright female students are identified and rewarded early on, so that they can focus on their studies and maximise their potential as they work to become future female leaders.

Paroma Chatterjee, CEO, Revolut India said, “I have always been a big advocate of celebrating and encouraging young female talent, and the Revolut Ira Scholarship is hence very close to my heart. This initiative is a step towards my dream of bringing about a workplace evolution, where I envision an equal number of brilliant men and women occupying the seats in a boardroom. I am actively encouraging this approach in the hiring we are doing for Revolut in India, and I am delighted we had an equal gender split last quarter, even through our gruelling recruitment process.

Revolut strives to ensure women are provided with fair and equitable opportunities. Last year, Revolut launched its inaugural D&I Framework, aimed at accelerating progress on this important topic. In July 2022, Revolut set a female representation target of achieving 30% of women in senior management roles by the end of 2025.

Alexandra Loi, Global Head of HR, Revolut said, “Revolut values the skills, abilities and creativity that diversity brings to a business and we feel investment in young female talent will help create a more equitable global fintech industry. The Ira Scholarship will help young female students concentrate on their studies and build a more diverse pipeline of fintech talent.
