Send money from your Revolut account to a domestic bank in a few easy steps
Did you know about our money transfer feature for local bank accounts? With it, you can use your Revolut account to easily send money in Japanese yen to local Japanese banks.
Tips for saving on transfer fees
With Revolut, you can enjoy free transfers, whichever plan you're on. Your monthly transfer limit is based on your plan:
- Standard: up to 1 free transfer per month
- Premium: up to 3 free transfers per month
- Metal: up to 5 free transfers per month
After you reach your plan's limit, you'll be charged ¥220 per transfer. The limit resets every rolling month, on the date your account was opened or upgraded. This might not be the first day of each month.
These limits don’t apply to transfers sent to banks outside Japan. For details on international transfers, please check our blog post on making international transfers.
Transfer limits
Transfers to or from Japan in JPY have an upper limit of ¥1,000,000 per transaction, and a lower limit of ¥900 per transaction.
When will the money arrive at the receiving bank?
In most cases, transfers will arrive on the same day you make them.¹
¹ Depending on the receiving bank’s system capabilities and in some cases, such as during periods of high transfer requests, the transfer may still take until the next business day.
How to make domestic transfers
Make sure you have the latest version of the app, and follow the steps below to make local transfers to Japanese bank accounts:
- Head to the home screen, and tap Payments in the bottom menu.
- Tap + in the top right corner of your screen.
- Select Bank recipient, or scroll down to browse your previous recipients.
- On the Account details screen, if you’re sending money to a non-business account, choose Individual. If it’s a business bank account, choose Business.
- Type the beneficiary's details. Their four-digit bank code, branch code, account number, account type, and first and last name or company name need to be entered exactly as registered at the beneficiary bank (using katakana or the alphabet).
- Tap Add recipient. You’ll see the recipient's name and account number on screen (for future transfers, their name will be added to the Bank Accounts list for easy access).
- Tap Confirm, and enter the amount in JPY that you want to send. If there's a fee for transferring, it'll be displayed on this screen.
- Review the details and confirm the transfer.
Please note, the sender name will appear as REVOLUT TECHNOLOGIES JAPANカブシキガイシャ in your bank statements, and not your name.
That's it — you’re ready to make transfers with just a few taps. If you have any questions, please get in touch via our in-app chat.
