Seamless overseas internet connection with Revolut 

With Revolut's eSIM, you can now stay connected globally with mobile data plans in over 100 countries, avoiding unexpected roaming charges and interruptions.

With the addition of the eSIM service, Revolut offers a seamless experience in a single app. Now, you can prepare before your trip abroad, stay connected during your travels, and continue using the service until you return home.

Starting from December 2024, Revolut customers in Japan with eSIM-compatible devices can access the eSIM service, regardless of their Revolut plan. Once installed, customers can easily top up data wherever they go, with no need for a physical SIM card. Even if you land in a country without data access or if you run out of data, you can still top up eSIM data if needed.

Prices per location for 1GB will start at approximately 195 JPY with more than 100 countries to choose from. There will be multiple data plans available to purchase, which will range from 1GB to 100GB (1GB, 3GB, 5GB, 10GB, 20GB, 50GB, 100GB) and you'll also have the option to choose from regional or global data plans to cover multiple countries with one plan.

How to purchase a Revolut eSIM

1. Go to Lifestyle on the bottom menu
2. Tap eSIM
3. Tap Get data plan
4. Select a coverage — local if you want one country, or regional or global for multiple countries
5. Select the amount of data you need
6. Continue to Checkout and purchase your data plan (prices vary per plan and plan duration)

The data plan's validity period begins on the date of purchase, or, if it's your first purchase, when your eSIM is ready to be installed

How to install an eSIM

iOS

1. Go to Lifestyle on the bottom menu of the Revolut app
2. Go to the eSIM section
3. Tap Install on the eSIM section in your Revolut app.

Android

1. Go to Lifestyle on the bottom menu of the Revolut app
2. Go to the eSIM section
3. Tap Install on the eSIM section in your Revolut app
4. Open settings and choose Networks & Internet
5. Select SIMs (+) and then select a SIM
6. Tap Next on the eSIM page
7. Tap Need help? on the Scan your QR code from network page
8. Tap Enter it manually on the Help adding a network page
9. Enter ‌the code you receive and select Continue, before tapping Download

Depending on your phone manufacturer, the instructions for Android may differ.

How to activate your data plan

1. Install the Revolut eSIM on your device. A banner will appear in-app guiding you through how to do this. You can refer to 'How to install an eSIM' above for the steps.
2. Select the Revolut eSIM for data roaming from your device’s settings. You can refer to the below 'How to select a Revolut eSIM for data roaming' article for the steps.

iOS

1. Open Settings and select Mobile Service
2. Under SIM, select your newly installed eSIM (your device may automatically name your eSIM, but it won’t be your 'primary' SIM)
3. Make sure the Turn on this line and Data roaming toggles are turned on
4. Ensure that Data roaming is switched off for your primary line 
5. Go back to the previous Mobile Service page
6. Tap on Mobile Data and select the eSIM 

Android

1. Open Settings and choose Networks & Internet
2. Select SIMs and tap Revolut which is your downloaded eSIM
3. Make sure the Use Sim, Mobile data, and Data Roaming toggles are all switched on

• This eSIM is designed specifically for data connectivity, with no access to voice or messaging capabilities.
• You may use a personal hotspot.
• Can be used in combination with a physical SIM, depending on the mobile device's compatibility.
• Pricing of the eSIM data plans is variable. Live pricing can be viewed in the Revolut app. In-app pricing is inclusive of taxes and charges. 
• The fee is payable at the time of purchase (even if the eSIM data plan isn't activated until a later date).
