Exchange

Whenever you make any exchange (including cryptocurrency exchanges) in the Revolut app, we'll use an exchange rate based on our market rate, which is based on foreign-exchange market rates. There is more information about our currency exchange rate in our Personal Terms, our cryptocurrency exchange rate in our Crypto Terms. The exchange rate for cryptocurrency includes our fees. We don't charge you any other fees in relation to cryptocurrency.

For certain conversions we apply an extra percentage-based margin, which may change according to when and how frequently the currencies are traded. These fees are set out in the table below.

High Frequency Customers

Different margins apply for high-frequency Junior customers and high-frequency standard customers.

High-Frequency Junior Customers

A high-frequency junior customer is someone who:

  • is a junior customer; and
  • has made over the equivalent of A$450 of card transactions denominated in a currency other than Australian Dollars in any rolling month (the Junior Allowance).

For a high-frequency junior customer a higher margin of 0.5% shall apply only to any aggregate amount transacted over the Junior Allowance. You can find your remaining Junior Allowance for the current 30 day period displayed in the Revolut app at any time.

High-Frequency Standard Customers

A high-frequency standard customer is someone who:

  • is a standard customer (not a premium or metal user); and
  • has exchanged A$9,000 (or the equivalent in a different currency) in any rolling month (the Exchange Allowance).

The higher margin applicable to a high-frequency standard customer shall only apply to any aggregate amount exchanged over the Exchange Allowance. You can find your remaining Exchange Allowance for the current 30 day period displayed in the Revolut app at any time.

Margin during foreign exchange market hours

Standard customers High-frequency standard customers
THB and UAH 1.0% 1.5%
USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD, CHF, JPY, SEK, HKD, NOK, SGD, DKK, PLN and CZK No margin (0%) 0.5%
Any other currency not listed above No margin (0%) 0.5%
Cryptocurrencies 2.5% 3.0%

We also charge a different margin outside foreign-exchange-market hours

A different margin on foreign exchange rates applies outside foreign-exchange market hours, which are on weekends and public holidays in London, United Kingdom.

You will be able to see the exchange rate prior to transacting. This is not available for Junior.

Margin outside foreign exchange market hours

Regular customers High-frequency standard customers
THB and UAH 2.0% 2.5%
USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, CAD, NZD, CHF, JPY, SEK, HKD, NOK, SGD, DKK, PLN and CZK 0.5% 1.0%
Any other currency not listed above 1.0% 1.5%
Cryptocurrencies 2.5% 3.0%

The highest margin relevant to your conversion will apply. For example, for a conversion between AUD and THB during foreign exchange market hours, we will apply the mark-up that applies to THB (1%), not the mark-up for AUD (0%).
