The cost of using Revolut X remains the same no matter your crypto trading volume. We charge 0% maker fees and 0.09% taker fees. All fees are displayed before you execute a trade.
You can place a taker order if you want to buy or sell crypto instantly. Taker order fees on Revolut X are 0.09% — if you place an order to buy $1,000 of BTC, the fee will be $0.90. This cost exists because taker orders remove liquidity from the exchange.
You can place a maker order if you want to buy or sell crypto at a specific price, which means the order is not completed instantly. Instead, we’ll keep it open until another order matches yours, or you cancel it. The pricing for a maker order on Revolut X is 0%, because placing maker orders supports the exchange by adding liquidity.
When buying, the ask rate for an asset (the highest price buyers are ready to pay) is usually higher than the bid rate (the lowest price sellers accept). This difference is called the spread.
Check out our FAQ on different crypto rates for more information.
Liquidity allows financial institutions to convert crypto into money (fiat currency) without substantially affecting crypto prices. We offer deep liquidity, so Revolut X customers get quick trades because there’s no waiting for orders to take place.
On-ramp means you're exchanging fiat currency to crypto, while off-ramp means you're exchanging crypto back to a fiat currency.
Fiat currency is any government-issued currency not backed by a physical commodity like gold — the US dollar is one example.
A market order lets you buy or sell crypto at the market’s current best available price. These usually happen immediately, and are always taker orders.
When you make a limit order, you'll set a specific price for a particular cryptocurrency, and will automatically buy or sell if that price is met in future. A limit order is usually a maker order, but may be executed immediately (becoming a taker order) if it is higher than the highest buy price on the order book or lower than the lowest sell price.
Cold storage means your assets are stored in places not connected to the internet, protecting them from potential hackers. The majority of crypto on Revolut X is held in cold storage.
A custodian is a financial institution with specific expertise in guarding and managing cryptocurrency. Custodians use advanced cryptography and hardware security to securely store crypto.
