With a Kids & Teens account, your kid can gain financial independence while you maintain oversight. The account is designed to help them learn about money in a secured, real-world environment.
Here are the main things your kid can do:
- Spend money: they can use their personalised physical or virtual prepaid card to make purchases in-store or online
- Receive money: they can receive money from a parent or coparent, either as a one-time transfer or a regular allowance
- Set savings goals: they can create savings goals and track their progress to learn about the value of saving for a specific item or event
- Track spending: their app provides real-time notifications for every transaction, helping them to stay on top of their balance and understand where their money is going
- Secure their card: if they misplace their card, they can freeze and unfreeze it from their own app
A Kids & Teens account works by linking your kid's independent app and prepaid debit card directly to your own Revolut account. It's a subaccount that you manage entirely from your main app, giving you full control and oversight.
Here's a simple breakdown of how it works:
- You're in control: you are the one who adds money to your kid's account, either by adding money in-app or by setting a regular allowance. From your app, you can also set spending limits and receive notifications for every purchase.
- They get independence: your kid gets their own app to see their balance, track their spending, and set savings goals. They can use their personal debit card to make purchases, just like a regular prepaid card.
- It's secured: you can freeze or unfreeze their card from your phone, so you have complete peace of mind.
Opening a Kids & Teens account is a powerful way to teach them the value of money in a secured, modern environment. It helps them build foundational financial habits that will last a lifetime, all while giving you the peace of mind that comes with complete oversight.
Here’s why it’s a smart choice for both you and your kid:
- For them: it gives your kid the financial independence of their own prepaid debit card and app. They learn to track their spending, set and achieve savings goals, and understand budgeting in a practical way.
- For you: you get total control and visibility. You can set spending limits, receive transaction alerts, and freeze their card at any time, making it a secured way for them to explore the world of money.
- For the family: it simplifies allowances and chore payments, moving away from cash and giving you a clear record of their finances. It’s an essential tool for preparing them for a financially savvy future.
