Does Revolut charge international transfer fees?

Yes, we may charge fees for certain types of international transfers, but many options carry no transfer fees depending on your plan and the transfer method.

For example, transfers between you and another Revolut customer on our platform are always at no extra cost, regardless of the destination (exchange fees may still apply).

If you're sending money to a bank account, the fee's determined by the destination and the currency. We'll always show you these costs in-app before you confirm your transfer, so there aren't any surprises once the money leaves your account.

Revolut fixed fees for SWIFT and wire transfers

If you need to send a payment that isn't in the local currency of the destination country — such as sending US dollars to a bank in Japan — your transfer will usually travel via the SWIFT network. We’ll show you the applicable fee in-app before you hit Send.

Our paid plan customers get discounts on international transfer fees:¹

  • Premium: 20% discount
  • Metal: 40% discount

For domestic or international wire transfers (via Fedwire) from a US account, we charge a flat fee of $10. This reflects the cost of using the wire network and you'll see it in your summary before you confirm.

You can find a full breakdown of these costs on our US personal fees page.

Intermediary fees on international transfers via SWIFT

When you send money with us using the SWIFT network, intermediary banks are used to complete the transaction and might charge a fee. We usually don’t have visibility or control over these fees.

However, we try to use our modern local payment networks if they're available when you send money overseas with Revolut, to avoid the SWIFT network and the associated fees.

Revolut currency exchange and weekend fees

The transfer fee's only one part of the cost — the exchange rate matters just as much. We use competitive market rates, but certain limits and markups apply depending on when you send the money.

Revolut currency exchange rates and fees

For many international transfers in the local currency of the destination (such as sending euros to France), currency exchange fees may apply. Our competitive exchange rate includes a markup, meaning the fee's embedded in the exchange rate.

As we believe in clarity, you’ll always be able to check the current exchange rate before making a transaction.

And, as you can have 25+ currencies stored in your account, you can look at the exchange rate in-app or set up alerts to convert currencies whenever you're happy with the rate. Then you can send your international transfer later using the currency Pocket you’ve created.

Weekend markups explained

The currency markets close on the weekends (5pm Friday–6pm Sunday ET).

For Standard plan customers, we apply a 1% fee on all currency exchanges made during these hours. To avoid this, you can exchange your money during the week and hold it in your account until you’re ready to send.

Premium and Metal customers don’t have to pay this fee.¹

Fair usage limits

Standard and Premium customers have monthly limits on how much they can exchange without a fair usage fee.¹
