Revolut cards in Australia, in a nutshell
The Revolut card is a multi-currency debit card that lets you spend, send, and hold over 30 currencies in one place. It works on a prepaid model: you add money in AUD and we exchange it at competitive rates.
We offer 4 plans in Australia — Standard, Plus, Premium, and Metal — each with specific allowances for ATM withdrawals and currency exchange.
Key benefits include virtual cards for shopping, disposable cards for fraud protection, and an app designed for real-time tracking.
Our card availability in Australia
We're a global financial technology company launched in London in 2015. We've grown to support over 65 million customers worldwide and almost 1 million in Australia by offering features that go beyond traditional money management.
We're fully available to residents in Australia. We provide you with the ability to open a personal account, order physical or virtual cards, and access features like international transfers and personal loans. Our goal is to provide a single app where you can manage your entire financial life with clarity.
How does the Revolut card work?
Your card is a debit card linked directly to your account. It works on a prepaid card model, so you only spend what you've added into your account. This helps you stay on budget.
Once you've downloaded the app and verified your identity, you can add money to your account via transfer or another debit card. You can then use your card — either physical or virtual — to make purchases anywhere Mastercard or Visa are accepted.
When you spend abroad, we automatically convert your AUD into the local currency at our competitive exchange rates. If you already hold a balance in that local currency, we'll use that amount first. It’s designed to be a seamless experience, whether you're at a cafe in Paris or shopping on a US-based website from Australia.
Is the Revolut card a credit card?
No, we don't offer credit cards in Australia. You get a debit card, meaning there's no credit facility linked to it and you can't spend more than your available balance.
If you’re looking for a flexible way to borrow money, you can apply for a personal loan with Revolut.
