It’s official — Revolut is now a French licensed bank

News · 10 August 2026Team Revolut

We’ve officially been granted a full banking licence in France. This shows our commitment to offer the best possible experience to the 8 million French customers and over 55,000 French businesses who trust us with their money. It’s another step toward becoming Europe's largest and most trusted bank, allowing us to launch even more products and services in the future.

Our new French bank is supervised by both the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) and the European Central Bank (ECB).

Over the next few months, we’ll migrate French personal and business customers to a new, locally regulated French bank. Customers have the right to close their account free of charge any time before the migration if they’re unhappy with these changes.

What will change?

Right now, French Revolut bank accounts sit with the French branch of Revolut Bank UAB, Revolut’s Lithuanian bank, and eligible deposits are protected by the “Deposit and Investment Insurance” (VĮ “Indėlių ir investicijų draudimas”), Lithuania’s Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

Once we migrate customers’ accounts, their eligible deposits will be protected by the Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution (FGDR) up to €100,000 per person. Exclusions apply — see the FGDR website for details.

What will stay the same?

If you’re a customer, the Revolut app will work as usual. Your account and card details will remain the same, so you can continue to use them for transfers and payments.

What comes next for Revolut customers?

Accounts held with the French branch of Revolut Bank UAB, Revolut’s Lithuanian bank, will be transitioned to the new French bank.

If you’re a Revolut or Revolut Business customer of the French branch of Revolut Bank UAB, you'll receive two months' notice before your account is migrated, along with the updated T&Cs reflecting that services will be provided by our French bank. You won’t need to take any action if you're happy with these changes. We’ll assume you accept the new T&Cs unless you inform us otherwise.

If you don’t want to accept the updated T&Cs, you have the right to refuse the changes by closing your account with us free of charge any time before the migration.

How can I check which Revolut bank my account is part of?

As a Revolut customer, you can check which entity or bank you’re with in-app by navigating to your ‘Details’ from the home screen.
