Product & feature · 5 December 2024

  • Revolut is the first fintech in Singapore to offer eSIMs and global data plans to customers. Revolut’s eSIM is a cost-effective way for its customers to access data plans in over 100 countries.
  • All Revolut customers on eSIM-compatible devices, regardless of the plan they are on, will be able to install the eSIM fully digitally and top up in just a few clicks through their Revolut app whenever they need to.
  • The eSIM can be used simultaneously while having a physical SIM, allowing customers to switch easily between networks and never worry about roaming charges again.

Revolut, the global fintech with more than 50 million customers worldwide, becomes the first fintech in Singapore to offer eSIMs and global data plans to its customers, with coverage in more than 100 countries. Revolut’s eSIM provides a cost-effective and seamless way for customers to stay connected wherever they are without unexpected roaming charges and interruptions.

Revolut customers on eSIM-compatible devices will have access to the eSIM regardless of the Revolut plan they are on. Customers can easily buy and activate it in-app. Once activated, customers will be able to top up data wherever they go - without the need for a physical SIM. eSIMs are fully digital and can be used alongside customers’ existing SIMs. Connecting the eSIM enables customers to use the Revolut app without using their mobile data allowance - so if a Revolut customer lands in a country and doesn't have data, they can still access their Revolut app and use all the products and features, including topping up their data.

Raymond Ng, Chief Executive Officer at Revolut Singapore, commented, “At Revolut, we aim to simplify our customers’ lives and make things as easy and convenient for them as possible. This is exactly what our latest product, eSIMs, accomplishes. It offers seamless and cost-efficient access to mobile data, saving customers money and the hassle involved in organising and managing multiple physical SIM cards.

Whether you are in the US, Australia or Egypt, you can effortlessly secure a data plan with just a few taps on your phone, and then instantly share those breathtaking photos of your trip with friends and family. It’s a game-changer for people who love to travel internationally and it is built for the global citizen of today.”

Revolut’s eSIMs will be launched in partnership with 1GLOBAL, a global leader in telecommunications.

Hakan Koç, founder and CEO of 1GLOBAL said, “By joining forces, Revolut can leverage 1GLOBAL’s worldwide mobile network and market leading eSIM platform to enhance their own international technological infrastructure. 1GLOBAL provides quick and secure mobile network connectivity in over 160 countries worldwide. Our eSIM technology integrates seamlessly into the existing Revolut app and can be installed on any eSIM-compatible mobile device in less than a minute.”

Prices per location for 1GB will start at S$1.50 with more than 100 countries to choose from. There will be multiple data plans available to purchase which will range from 1GB / 3GB / 5GB / 10GB / 20GB / 50GB / 100GB, and customers will also have the option to choose from regional or global data plans to cover them across multiple countries with one plan.

The launch of eSIM ensures travellers are supported by Revolut from the very beginning of their trip through to the very end. With Revolut’s eSIM, customers no longer have to worry about extortionate roaming charges. In addition to Singapore, Revolut is also launching eSIMs in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Revolut eSIMs are already available to users across the UK and EEA. Just in 2024 alone, over 3 million GB has been redeemed through eSIMs by Revolut users globally.

To purchase your eSIM and activate your data plan:

  1. Look for the eSIM icon on the in-app homepage OR search for eSIM in the in-app search bar
  2. Tap 'eSIM' and access data plan selection
  3. Select a coverage — local if you want one country, or regional or global for multiple countries
  4. Select the amount of data you need
  5. Continue to checkout and purchase your data plan (prices vary per plan and plan duration)
  6. The data plan’s validity period starts from the date of purchase, or when your eSIM is ready to be installed, if it’s your first purchase
