An interchange fee is a fee paid by an acquirer (the financial institution that processes a card transaction on behalf of a merchant) to an issuer (the financial institution that issues a card to a cardholder) to compensate the issuer for the value and benefits that merchants receive when they accept electronic payments.
Domestic interchange fees are updated periodically and published by card schemes on their websites, as set out below. These fees set by the card schemes and are subject to change by those schemes without notice.
