How does Revolut calculate the cryptocurrency rates?
How does Revolut decide the cryptocurrency rates to offer at any moment?
We stream the prices from the exchanges we’ve partnered with and calculate a Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP). Our derived rate takes into account other factors, such as market depth and volatility.
Will Revolut apply a fee to my cryptocurrency exchange?
We then apply a margin on our derived rate, which you are shown separately before you execute a transaction, and afterwards in transaction details. The margin varies depending on what plan you are on. The fee is 1.5% for our Metal and Premium customers and 2.5% for our Standard and Plus customers. (See our Fees and Charges Section for details.) The price you pay is locked in at the time of the exchange settlement.
Why did I get a different rate than the one I found elsewhere?
Please note that once you go to the Crypto tab and select a cryptocurrency, you'll see the Sell graph with the Sell rate. Once you buy cryptocurrency, you'll see that the Buy rate is different than the Sell rate, as there is the regular market spread between the rates. If you believe that we offered an incorrect rate, contact us via in-app chat and type ‘Live Agent’.
The majority of crypto services stream rates against USD, so if you check exchange rates of your crypto against any other currency, it might be a currency mismatch, not a rate-related problem.
